About the show and host
Here is a bit of our background:
Hello, I'm Louise Phipps Senft, your host. Welcome to Blink of an Eye, my new podcast which will launch August 5. We will explore life stories of trauma, loss, awakenings, and epiphanies, beginning with my own story when I got the Call that one of my 5 children, Archer, then a 6’2” teenager, was in a catastrophic diving accident at the beach, shattering his neck, rendering him paralyzed from the neck down. You will hear journal entries written in real time sent to my family that were later posted on social media and read daily by over 50,000 people who joined me and us in the fight to save Archer’s life and the journey of life and death. In Blink of an Eye, I will introduce you to some of the extraordinary people behind the scenes. And you will meet others with extraordinary life stories, as well as wise men and women with life-changing knowledge for healing that you and I can learn from, consider, and grow into, especially if you happen to face a crisis, a trauma, or a deep loss. Please join me on August 5, BlinkofanEyePodcast.com and please tell others.
Together, we will explore the true nature of our relationships and interconnectedness and what is possible even in the face of traumatic events that change everything.
About Your Host:
Louise Phipps Senft is a woman who builds a bridge wherever she sees one is needed.
An innovative conflict transformation trailblazer in her predominantly adversarial and emotionally fearful legal profession, mother to five fantastic children, and married for over 35 years, Louise was already a beacon of inspiration and excellence in her community when she got the phone call that changed everything. This became the catalyst for this explorative podcast.
In 1993, Louise left the legal field to open her own mediation practice, a courageous move which raised eyebrows in a male-dominated field. Immediately gaining high-visibility recognition for her innovative work, Louise went on to pioneer some of today’s most effective mediation techniques and has received countless accolades from high-ranking organizations for her outstanding and groundbreaking work.
When her son was injured, Louise brought that same force-of-nature energy and devotion to advocating for what was possible for her son and his future. Open to alternative methods to keep him alive and ways to wean him off of life support using homeopathic and other integrative remedies, Louise was surprised to find that the medical field seemed closed off to exploring every available option. The same attitudes and rigidities which had been a red flag to her in the legal profession also seemed prominent in medicine.
In her usual bridge-building way, with the same skill, openness, courage, tenacity, and faith, Louise began opening the arena for her son’s healing through both traditional and alternative medical approaches and engaging in painful but honest conversations about advocacy and hope. Join us each week for a new chapter in this journey!
